A competition proposal for a logo of The Year of Slovak Design 2021, organised by Slovak Design Center.
There will be exhibitions, events and promotional campaign remembering the influential designers of the past, as well as promoting the work of younger creators, who shapes the contemporary scene.
A logo has a minimalistic, straightforward character. The mark contains a letter D as design, as well as stylization of the number 21 as a direct reference to the year 2021. Thanks to its Bauhaus-like clean composition and formal timelessness, it´s a proper symbol for representation of such occasion.
A logo with its simplicity is suitable for use on all types of digital and print media, compatible with a logotype of Slovak Design Center due to its similar rectangular shape. At the same time, the distinctive icon provides an interesting frame layout, which serves as a flexible grid for every application. The frame would change its proportions according to the size of the media, and the colour scheme would be adjustable to the shades of depicted object. This principle would provide the desirable playful consistency across all the identity channels.
The proposal took a 2nd place in the competiton and wasn´t applied.
